In a shocking trial, the alleged victim of an Oxford mosque stabbing shares his experience as the case unfolds in court
Oxford: So, there was this serious incident at the Oxford Central Mosque last year. Kane Khan got stabbed outside the mosque while he was attending an event. It all went down on March 13, and it was pretty chaotic.
They say Hassan Hussain, who’s 25, was the one with the knife. Poor Mr. Khan had to run back inside the mosque to get help after he was attacked. He ended up in the hospital, which is just awful.
Now, Hussain is on trial at the Oxford Crown Court facing some heavy charges, including attempted murder and possession of an imitation firearm. But he’s not alone; two other guys, Shahroz Khan and Bilal Khan, are also in the hot seat for conspiracy charges.
During the trial, Mr. Khan was giving his side of the story. His testimony got a bit intense when Shahroz Khan’s lawyer tried to poke holes in his memory. They brought up some anonymous WhatsApp videos that Mr. Khan received while he was in the hospital.
These videos supposedly show Shahroz Khan chatting with Hussain before the stabbing. Mr. Khan said those clips helped him remember things better, even though he was overwhelmed at the time.
He mentioned how shocking it was to think someone who volunteered at the mosque could be involved in something so terrible. It’s hard for him to wrap his head around it, especially since he feels he did nothing wrong.
When pressed about the videos, he got emotional, saying he was in a really tough spot, crying with his family and friends around him. The video just brought back memories he was trying to process.
He even described seeing Shahroz Khan smirking in one of the videos, which really stuck with him. The trial is still ongoing, and it’s clear this whole situation is weighing heavily on him.
