Students at Aureus School in Didcot are thrilled after author Larry Hayes’ visit, sparking creativity and excitement about storytelling.
Didcot: Mr. Hayes dropped by Aureus School to chat with Year 7 students about how powerful stories can be. He really knows how to engage kids!
Using humor and some fun role-play, he made storytelling feel magical. The school said everyone was captivated by his interactive session.
It was such a hit that they’re kicking off a week filled with creative activities. Plus, Mr. Hayes launched a cool competition for the students.
They get to design their own monsters, which might even end up in one of his future books. How awesome is that?
Students are already sketching and describing their creations during reading time. One student shared, “Meeting Larry was amazing! He made storytelling so fun.”
They’re all buzzing with excitement, thinking one of them could inspire his next book. Teachers are loving it too, seeing it as a great way to spark creativity and a love for reading.
Miss Peruga, who heads modern foreign languages and literacy, said, “Larry’s energy was infectious. He got the kids thinking in new ways and left them eager to create.”
