Two men have been sentenced for trying to smuggle a handgun and drugs into the UK from the US
London: So, there were these two guys, Colly McNeil and Keston Redhead, who thought they could sneak a handgun into the UK from Florida. Not the brightest idea, right? They got caught trying to import not just the gun but also some serious drugs.
The National Crime Agency (NCA) was on it. They found the gun hidden in a metallic box, along with some empty magazines. The package was shipped using fake names, but the delivery address was a rundown place in south London. Talk about a rookie mistake!
When they checked their phones, it turned out both were deep into this illegal import game. They were found guilty and ended up with 17 years in jail after a lengthy trial. Redhead will even be deported after serving his time. Ouch!
The NCA’s Chris Hill said it best: these guys were a danger to the community. They were trying to bring in a deadly weapon and drugs, and thankfully, they were stopped. The impact of such crimes is huge, and the NCA is committed to keeping our streets safe.
After their arrest, police found even more illegal stuff in McNeil’s flat, including a samurai sword and a machete. It’s wild how deep they were into this. The NCA really did a solid job here, and it’s a win for public safety.
