Pendle: A new study by Electricity North West has revealed some concerning stats. About 14.4% of households in the area are struggling with fuel poverty. That means they can’t afford to keep their homes warm enough.

In Pendle, the situation is even worse, with 19.6% of folks affected. Burnley isn’t far behind at 19.3%, and Hyndburn sits at 18.2%. Many residents are dealing with low incomes, high energy costs, and older homes that just don’t hold heat well.

To tackle this issue, Electricity North West has kicked off the Take Charge campaign. They’re teaming up with the Energy Saving Trust and Citizens Advice North West to offer help.

This free service has already reached over 43,000 residents, providing essential support to those who need it most. Samantha Loukes, who heads customer inclusion at Electricity North West, explained that the North West faces unique challenges.

She mentioned that older homes and lower incomes make rising energy costs hit particularly hard. Residents can reach out to the Take Charge Citizens Advice experts for confidential help with their bills.

During Energy Savers Week, the service is ramping up support for customers in the area. Local money-saving guru, Thrifty Clair, is also on board, sharing tips to save energy and promote the service.

She noted that many people are feeling the pinch from soaring energy bills and is excited to collaborate with Take Charge to offer her advice.

Electricity North West is investing a whopping £8 million into the Take Charge service to assist people across the North West. For more details, check out www.takechargetoday.co.uk.
