Lorna Webb, the beloved pancake queen of Pinchbeck, marks her 100th birthday with friends and fond memories of a life well-lived
Lorna grew up in Gosberton and moved to Gosberton Clough when she was just six. She went to boarding school and later studied in London during the war. Can you imagine? Bombs going off while she was trying to study!
She met her late husband, Derek, at a party, and they had a beautiful life together. They even started pancake nights for their choir, which turned into charity coffee mornings that raised a good chunk of money for various causes.
Lorna was also a hockey coach until she was 55! She loved sports and believes staying fit is key to a long life. She’s got some great advice for the younger crowd: get into sports and take care of yourselves!
This week has been packed with celebrations for her. She gave a reading at a church service and met up with friends from the Women’s Institute. Plus, she’s looking forward to a family lunch at the Crown Inn, with a special guest flying in from China!
And let’s not forget the cakes! Lorna had two beautiful birthday cakes made by a local bakery known for making cakes for the Royal family. What a way to celebrate a century of life!
