Pitsea: Roman Casselden, 16, and his sister Darcie, 9, were hit by a car. This happened on Saturday evening in Ashlyns. The driver did not stop.

Emergency services and locals tried to help, but sadly, both children died at the scene. Their loss has shocked the community.

People have laid flowers and shared condolences at the site. It’s a tough time for everyone who knew them.

The Echo opened a book of condolences for the community to honor the siblings. Logan Curtis, a local, expressed his sorrow and shared fond memories.

Roman was involved with Achievement Through Football, helping kids connect through sports and culture. He became a community coach last year.

Alexandria Vickers also shared her condolences, recalling happy times spent with the children. Fellow resident Jacey Greaves echoed the community’s grief.

Two people in their 20s were arrested for dangerous driving and failing to stop. The woman is out on bail, while the man is under investigation.

Donna Moles from Basildon sent her thoughts to the family, hoping they find comfort in their support network.
