Croydon: Tram passengers will experience disruptions next month. Transport for London (TfL) is renewing tracks. This work starts on February 15 and ends on February 23.

During this time, a section of track between Wellesley Road and East Croydon will be replaced. This will change tram services in the town center and east of East Croydon.

Trams won’t run between Reeves Corner and Sandilands, including the town center loop, over the weekend. Services to Elmers End will also stop.

Replacement buses will be available for affected stops, but expect delays. The 289 bus will run every 12 to 15 minutes to Elmers End. It connects to Addiscombe and West Croydon.

Birkbeck tram stop is a short walk away. Passengers can also catch bus route 356 at bus stop B. The disruption continues from February 16 to 23.

No trams will run between Reeves Corner and East Croydon, affecting the town center loop. There will also be no service between Arena and Elmers End.

The 289 bus remains the best option for reaching Elmers End. Other local buses, like routes 64, 119, 130, 194, 198, 464, and 466, will still operate but may be busier than usual.

Despite these works, the rest of the London Trams network will run normally. All roads around the work areas will stay open to traffic.

Additional work will happen during this closure, including highway repairs, drainage work, and platform upgrades at various tram stops. These tasks aim to reduce future service interruptions.

TfL’s general manager for London Trams, Navid Golshan, emphasized the importance of this maintenance. He thanked customers for their patience and encouraged everyone to plan ahead for their journeys.

For updates, check local tram stops or visit the TfL website. The TfL Hopper fare allows unlimited journeys on buses and trams within an hour for just £1.75.
