A new planning application aims to build 30 affordable homes in Crew Green, addressing local housing needs and enhancing community living.
Welshpool: Exciting news for Crew Green! Mike Sambrook from SJ Construction Ltd has put in a planning application to build 30 new homes. This will be on land just north of the B4393 road, right by a place called “Oakland.”
Michael Lloyd, the planning agent from Berry’s, shared some details about the project. He mentioned that SJ Construction is teaming up with Barcud, a not-for-profit housing association, to make this happen.
According to Mr. Lloyd, this development is a big step towards meeting the local demand for affordable housing. The plan is to create 30 homes that will fit right in with the existing neighborhood in Crew Green.
So, what types of homes are we talking about? The proposal includes a mix: two four-bedroom semi-detached houses, two three-bedroom detached houses, eight three-bedroom semi-detached houses, and more. It’s designed to cater to different needs.
Mr. Lloyd also pointed out that Crew Green is in a great spot. It’s less than 10 miles from Welshpool and about 11 miles from Shrewsbury, both of which have plenty of services and job opportunities.
He described the village as having “four clusters” of homes along the B4393, which means it’s got a nice community feel with access to various services.
To make sure everything runs smoothly, a new access point onto the B4393 is planned. This is in response to feedback from the local community during the pre-planning consultation.
Plus, there’s a proposed footway that will connect to the existing pavement, making it easier for folks to walk to local amenities in Crew Green or nearby Coedway.
Mr. Lloyd is confident that the development won’t cause any major issues. Powys County Council is expected to make a decision on this application by March 14, so stay tuned!
