Exciting news for Wiltshire as plans for 425 new homes move forward, promising affordable options and community-focused designs
Chippenham: So, Bellway has just wrapped up a deal to buy land in both Devizes and Chippenham. They’re looking to build a bunch of homes there, and Wiltshire Council is already checking out their plans.
If everything goes smoothly, they’ll kick off with 225 homes at Rowden Chase, part of a bigger project called Rowden Park Garden Village. They finalized the land deal last November, and now it’s all official.
They’re also eyeing another site in Devizes, where they want to put up 200 homes at Lock Keeper Gardens. Bellway is aiming to start building in 2025, which is pretty exciting.
Sam Sowden, the land director for Bellway South West, thinks this is a big step forward for housing in the area. He mentioned that they’re keen to get going on these projects, especially since they’ll include affordable homes that are much needed.
With planning approval already in place, they’re just waiting for the green light to start construction. The Rowden Chase site will be part of a larger development that could see up to 1,000 new homes, along with a local center and a park.
The designs for Rowden Chase include a mix of affordable and private homes, while Lock Keeper Gardens will have a similar setup. They’re really focusing on creating a community vibe with energy-efficient homes and plenty of green spaces.
It sounds like they’re putting a lot of thought into making these neighborhoods friendly and sustainable, which is great news for everyone in Wiltshire.
