Frodsham: Plans are in the works to redevelop part of a former golf course. This area, about 1.45 hectares, used to be holes six and seven. The goal is to turn it into a smallholding.

This isn’t the first time someone has tried to redevelop the course. It closed in 2020, and the clubhouse is now a children’s day nursery.

The applicants want to build an agricultural building for the land. They plan to use the space for various agricultural activities. This includes bee hives, growing fruits and vegetables, wildflower areas, and grazing land.

A new track will connect the building to the entrance on Simons Lane. This will make access easier for everyone.

The development will be on Green Belt land. However, Goodwin Planning Services says it’s allowed since it’s agricultural in nature.

Most of the former golf course is being turned into woodland. The Woodland Trust is helping with this project. The focus is on increasing tree cover in Cheshire and Merseyside.
