Police arrested a 35-year-old man after finding a firearm on the M8
Chapelhall: Police responded to a report of an armed man on the M8. They arrived at Junction 6 around 8:55 AM but the man had already fled on foot.
Officers conducted a thorough search of the area. During this search, they found a firearm.
They later traced and arrested a 35-year-old man connected to the incident.
Detective Inspector Stephanie Bertram stated that this appears to be a targeted incident. She urged drivers with dash-cams to check their footage and share any information.
The M8 slip road and part of the A8 eastbound were closed for about seven hours for the investigation. The roads have since reopened.
