The investigation into the Southport attack is ongoing, with police revealing chilling comments made by the murderer while in custody
Southport: The police are still digging into the attack that shocked the community. A senior officer shared that the investigation is very much alive.
Last summer, a young man named Rudakubana took the lives of three little girls during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class. He was just 17 at the time.
He ended up getting a minimum of 52 years in prison after admitting to the murders of Alice, Bebe, and Elsie. It was a heartbreaking incident that left everyone reeling.
Detective Chief Inspector Jason Pye mentioned that they haven’t found any clear ideology behind Rudakubana’s actions. Instead, it seems he was just obsessed with violence.
He pointed out that all the evidence suggests Rudakubana had a real intent to commit mass murder that day. It’s chilling to think about what was going through his mind.
Interestingly, they found no signs that anyone else influenced him. It looks like he was more isolated than radicalized, which is a bit unsettling.
There was a moment when Rudakubana’s father tried to stop him from getting into a taxi heading to a high school. When asked about the family’s role in the investigation, the officer couldn’t share much since it’s still ongoing.
However, he did reveal that while in custody, Rudakubana made some truly disturbing comments about his victims. The officer described them as disrespectful and some of the worst things he’s ever heard.
Even though there’s no clear motive, a senior counterterrorism officer stated that the horrific acts are still terrifying. The full force of the justice system is being used to ensure justice is served.
