A man was shot dead by police after they attempted to subdue him with Tasers during a standoff in Worcestershire on Christmas Eve

By around 7:40 PM, the police ended up shooting the man, and he was pronounced dead shortly after. Thankfully, no one else was in the house at the time, which is a relief.
Assistant Chief Constable Grant Wills mentioned that they understand how shocking this is for the community. They’re following all the right steps, including getting the Independent Office for Police Conduct involved right away.
The IOPC is looking into everything, including the knife that was found and the police’s actions. They’re also reviewing body camera footage to get a clearer picture of what happened.
It’s a tough situation, and the IOPC director, Steve Noonan, expressed his condolences to everyone affected. He emphasized that while police shootings are rare, they take these incidents very seriously and will conduct a thorough investigation.
