Pontypool: A community ideas workshop is happening on Wednesday, January 29, at St. James Hall. It’s a great chance for locals to pitch in their thoughts.

There are two sessions planned, one at 9:30 AM and another at 5:30 PM. Plus, they’ll have teas and coffees to keep everyone energized.

The goal is to form a group that can help bring the Pontypool Placemaking Plan to life, along with other exciting ideas. Councillor Joanne Gauden is really looking forward to hearing from everyone.

She mentioned how this is a unique chance for the community to voice their ideas and make a real difference in the town’s future. It’s all about coming together to create a lively center that meets everyone’s needs.

Joanne is eager to see folks at the event and work together on shaping Pontypool’s future. Over the last couple of years, the town has received over £400,000 in grants, which has helped renovate some empty buildings.

New traders have also popped up at the Pontypool Indoor Market, including O’Connell’s Bakery, which is exciting for the community.

On top of that, Pontypool is one of just 11 projects in Wales to snag £7.6 million from the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund. This funding is aimed at creating the £9.3 million Pontypool Cultural Hub and Café Quarter.

The workshops are free, but spots are limited, so it’s best to register early to secure a place. They’re funded by the Welsh Government’s Transforming Towns Fund and are a joint effort with Torfaen Council and Cwmpass.
