Powerhouse Music has officially opened its doors in Southampton, offering a wide range of instruments and a welcoming vibe for all music lovers
Southampton: Powerhouse Music just opened up on East Street, and it’s already buzzing! They had a soft launch on January 18, 2024, and it’s been a hit.
This cool new shop is run by three musicians: Darren, George, and Gary. They used to work together at a music store in Portsmouth until it closed down.
Instead of letting that get them down, they decided to chase their dream of starting their own place. And guess what? They did it!
Darren mentioned they always wanted a two-floor shop on East Street, and they finally made it happen. They’ve put in a lot of hard work, with some help from friends.
Powerhouse Music isn’t just about selling instruments. You can find guitars, drum kits, and even vinyl records. Plus, you can grab a coffee while you browse!
Outside of the shop, Darren and George play in a band called King Botfly. They’re really passionate about inspiring the next generation of musicians.
Darren shared a story about a young kid who came in, curious about the drum kits. He encouraged the kid to jump on and play, wanting to create a friendly atmosphere.
He believes that playing an instrument could spark a new career for someone, and they’re always ready to offer advice.
Darren reminisced about how music shops used to have a vibrant scene, with plenty of options for musicians. They want Powerhouse Music to be that kind of place.
They’re open from 10 am to 6 pm, Monday to Saturday, and 11 am to 4 pm on Sundays. So, if you’re in the area, swing by and check it out!
