Chatham: Aldi is asking for feedback on a new store. This store will invest £7 million into the local economy.

The public consultation for the new branch on Maidstone Road is set. Aldi has shared a CGI image of the proposed store.

Recently, Aldi took over the old John Fisher Catholic Comprehensive School site. This school served students for nearly 60 years before moving to a new campus in Rochester.

Signs warning about asbestos have appeared at the old site. Aldi confirmed that work to clear the area will start soon.

The new store will be 1,300 square meters and create 50 full-time jobs. These jobs will pay above the National Living Wage.

More jobs will be available during the construction phase. The store will also have 105 parking spaces, including accessible spots.

Four electric vehicle charging points will be installed, with plans for more in the future. The area around the store will feature attractive landscaping.

A virtual exhibition will run from February 10 to February 23. Residents can view the plans and give feedback online.

A drop-in event will take place on February 10 at St Paul with All Saints Church. This event will be from 3 PM to 7 PM.

Aldi’s real estate director encourages residents to join the consultation. They want to hear community thoughts on the new store.
