Residents are upset about a consultation on rehab beds in South Warwickshire, feeling their needs are being overlooked in the process
The crowd was there for a meeting about where to place 35 rehab beds, but many felt the options were too limited. Caroline Gunn, co-chair of the Friends of the Ellen Badger Hospital, shared how the mood was a mix of annoyance and determination.
People were really passionate, and it was clear they care deeply about their local hospital. They’ve raised over £1.4 million for it over the years, so you can imagine how they feel about the new hospital being built without any beds.
The consultation offered two options: spread the beds across three sites or just two. But many, including Mrs. Gunn, think the choices are unfair and don’t truly reflect the community’s needs.
She recalled how her husband received excellent care at the hospital before he passed away, and she wants that level of service to continue for others. The meeting didn’t go as some hoped, with the committee largely approving the current plan despite the protests.
It’s a tough situation, and the locals are just trying to make sure their voices are heard. They want to ensure that their community gets the healthcare it deserves, and they’re not backing down anytime soon.
