Hey, guess what’s happening at The Old Forge? It’s a pub in Inverie. Inverie is on Scotland’s Knoydart Peninsula. The pub is community-owned now and they need seasonal staff for the busy time.

They want bartenders and waiters. Kitchen assistants are needed, too, and a housekeeper and a cook would be great. This is for their team at The Old Forge; working there sounds pretty cool.

Last year was their first full year operating as a community pub. They are excited for the summer when many visitors will come from all over, and the pub wants to offer a Highland welcome.

They serve Scottish food and drinks, including venison from Knoydart and local beer. They are open every day in the summer, and the restaurant serves about 80 meals daily. Scottish music happens often, and the community within Knoydart is very strong.

They need to expand the team, so many service jobs are available soon. Work is seasonal, from mid-March to October’s end. You can live and work there; it’s a rural spot with good people and amazing landscapes.

Staff housing gets provided for workers, and couples can apply to work together. In 2022, locals bought the pub after big fundraising, in which they raised over £320,000.

The Old Forge is in Inverie village and dates back to the 1700s. The old owner put it up for sale; the community buyout occurred after that.

The pub only sold drinks in 2022, and it had limited service from November on. Renovations closed the pub in January 2023, and locals did most of the upgrades then.

They added insulation and new windows. Electrics and heating got updated, too, with new toilets and a kitchen. Storage and a cellar got added finally, plus they made a smaller bar besides the main one.

The pub reopened in August 2023, just before the Knoydart Games. It is the heart of the Knoydart community, where about 120 people live full time.
