Residents are preparing for Storm Eowyn, with warnings of severe winds and possible tornadoes in Southern England this week
Dorset: Folks are getting ready for some wild weather as Storm Eowyn rolls in. A warning’s been issued from 6 AM on January 23 to 6 AM on January 24. It’s a level 2 alert, mainly for strong winds and a chance of tornadoes.
The European Storm Forecast Experiment is on it, saying we could see some serious wind gusts. They’re predicting an active cold front moving through during the day, which could stir things up quite a bit.
They mentioned that with the thunderstorms moving quickly, we might get some long-tracked tornadoes. The biggest risk seems to be along and south of the Bristol-London line, so everyone in that area should stay alert.
As Storm Eowyn gets closer, the Met Office has already put out a yellow weather warning for wind along the coast, including places like Weymouth and Lyme Regis. And it doesn’t stop there; another warning is set for Friday with winds possibly hitting 70 mph!
So, if you’re in Bournemouth, Christchurch, or Poole, keep an eye out for the yellow weather warning on January 24. Stay safe, everyone!
