The Royal Marines Band delivered an unforgettable performance at The Anvil, delighting fans with a mix of classic and contemporary tunes.
Basingstoke: The Basingstoke Deane Rotary Annual Charity Concert was a hit!
For over 15 years, this concert has thrilled fans with amazing music. This year, it attracted a near-record crowd and offered a unique experience.
The Band of His Majesty’s Royal Marines Collingwood took everyone on a musical journey. They played familiar favorites and introduced some lesser-known pieces.
The encore featured the iconic theme from Top Gun. The band’s versatility shone through with perfect pitch and power.
The Anvil’s excellent acoustics made the big band concert even more enjoyable. This venue has been a favorite for over 30 years.
After the Chelsea Pensioners took their bow, the band kicked off with Let Freedom Ring and Victory in Europe. These choices were fitting as 2025 marks VE Day’s 80th anniversary.
The Royal Marines Corps of Drums performed with military precision. The audience enjoyed impressive solo performances that highlighted the band’s talented musicians.
Captain Phil Trudgeon, a long-serving Royal Marine musician, led the band with Warrant Officer 2 Bandsman Jamie Gunn assisting him.
The second half featured a Prodigy medley, which surprised everyone and had a fantastic impact.
The concert’s grand finale was full of energy and patriotic music, ending with the Top Gun theme. Tom Cruise would have been proud!
Congratulations to the Basingstoke Deane Rotarians and headline sponsor Centerprise International for their support. The donations raised will help several good causes.
This year, the Rotarians aim to raise £40,000 for thoracoscopy equipment to benefit patients supported by Hampshire Hospitals Charity.
