Get ready for an amazing weekend in Clitheroe with over 40 free gigs and top acts in jazz and blues
Clitheroe: The Ribble Valley Jazz and Blues Festival is back, and it’s going to be a blast! Over 40 free live gigs are set to take place at more than 20 venues throughout the weekend. There’s something for everyone, so you won’t want to miss it.
Organizers have lined up some fantastic headline acts featuring top names from the British jazz and blues scene. Kicking things off on Friday, May 2, will be The Haggis Horns at the St Mary’s Centre. This band has been rocking the UK funk scene for 15 years, and they’re sure to get the party started with their unique mix of sounds.
Then on Saturday, May 3, the St Mary’s Centre will host the Manchester-based Secret Night Gang. Their soulful vibes and tight arrangements will bring a fresh twist to the classic British street soul sound.
Later that night, Clitheroe Grand will welcome Kyla Brox, a true star of the British Blues scene. She’s the daughter of the legendary Victor Brox and will be performing with her band, Blues Train.
On Sunday, May 4, the St Mary’s Centre will have two gigs. In the afternoon, you can catch Orchard, a new eight-piece neo-soul group from London. Then, in the evening, festival favorites Baked A La Ska will take the stage, and they know how to get the crowd going!
To wrap up the festival on Bank Holiday Monday, the Ribble Valley Big Band will perform at the St Mary’s Centre, while The Lighthouse Trio will be at the Grand. Tickets for these events are available at The Grand box office, and Freedom Passes can also be purchased.
Don’t forget, there are plenty of free events too, featuring acts like the Pat Fulgoni Blues Experience and the Paul Farr Blues Project. More details will be shared as the event approaches, so stay tuned!
