Robert Jenrick is calling for the NCA to find rapists as police remain tight-lipped about their whereabouts after sentencing
Keighley: Recently, two men were sentenced for their roles in a grooming gang, but there’s a twist. The police can’t confirm if they’ve fled the country.
Last week, eight men received prison sentences for horrific sexual offenses against two young victims. But two of them, Fayaz and Imtiaz Ahmed, were convicted in their absence.
Fayaz, 45, got 7.5 years, while 61-year-old Imtiaz was sentenced to 9 years. It’s frustrating because they’re still on the run.
Robert Jenrick, the Shadow Justice Secretary, is stepping in. He’s pushing the National Crime Agency to track these guys down. He wants them to face justice for their terrible actions.
During the sentencing, West Yorkshire Police mentioned they’ve issued warrants for the Ahmeds but are still searching for them. When asked about their whereabouts, the police just said they’re still looking.
Jenrick didn’t hold back, saying if these men are hiding in Pakistan, the UK should reconsider visas and aid if Islamabad won’t help.
Alongside the Ahmeds, other men were also sentenced for their crimes. It’s a grim situation, and the police are under pressure to find these offenders.
It’s a tough battle, but Jenrick is determined to see justice served. The community deserves to feel safe, and these men need to be held accountable.
