Join the fun this weekend as Warndon residents count their garden birds for the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch and share their findings
Warndon: The folks at Warndon Parish Council are really excited about the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch happening this weekend. They’re urging everyone in the area to get involved and count the birds in their gardens.
This annual event asks people to spend just one hour in their gardens between January 24 and January 26. After that, you can submit your results online. It’s super easy!
If you want to join in, you can register on the RSPB website to get a handy how-to guide and a tally chart. It’s a great way to learn about the birds that visit your garden.
Plus, the council wants you to share your results with them too. This way, they can get a better idea of what birds are hanging out in Warndon Villages.
Councillor Lucy Hogdson, the chair of the council, mentioned how important green spaces are to the community. She sees this birdwatch as a chance to learn more about local wildlife.
Another councillor, Dawn Merriman, added that citizen science projects like this are a fun way to connect with nature. She’s curious to see which birds are the most common in local gardens.
If you’ve got results to share, you can email them to dawnmerriman@warndonparishcouncil.org. Or, if you prefer, just drop off your list at the Lyppard Hub reception, marked for the Warndon Parish Council.
Remember, the Big Garden Birdwatch is the world’s largest garden wildlife survey. Every year, tons of nature lovers take part, helping to paint a picture of how garden birds are doing.
