Kittens were found in a wheelie bin in Darlington, prompting the RSPCA to ask for public assistance in locating their owner
Darlington: The RSPCA is reaching out for help after two kittens were discovered in a wheelie bin on Chelmsford Street. A local resident heard their meowing and found them inside.
Inside the bin, there was a grey plastic cat carrier with a female tabby and a black male with white markings. They’re both around five to six months old.
The kind resident took the kittens to a vet in Bradbury. The RSPCA then moved them to another clinic for microchipping, vaccinations, and treatment for fleas and worms.
These little furballs, now named Brooke and Sydney, were found on Saturday, January 11, between 7:30 PM and 8 PM. They’re currently being cared for at a private boarding facility and will soon be available for adoption.
The RSPCA has been looking into the situation and is asking anyone who might recognize the kittens to step forward.
Ruth Thomas-Coxon, an RSPCA officer, shared how the resident was alerted by the kittens’ cries. She mentioned they were quite smelly, suggesting they had been in the bin for a while.
Ruth expressed gratitude to the person who found them and the vets who helped. It’s shocking to think someone could abandon them like that, but thankfully, they’re friendly and ready for a loving home.
If you have any info about this incident, you can reach out to the RSPCA’s appeal line at 0300 123 8018, referencing number 1426573.
