Ruby-May Walker, 15, is thrilled to model for a new plus-size prom dress shop
Coedpoeth: Ruby-May Walker, 15, felt beautiful when chosen as the face of a new plus-size prom dress shop. She’s a Year 11 student at Ysgol Morgan Llwyd.
She signed on as a model for Ffansi Ffrogs, a store in Ruthin. The shop was launched by Wendy Thompson and Robyn Unsworth.
Ruby-May was excited for her first photo shoot at Ruthin Castle Hotel. However, she felt nervous about finding the right dress for prom.
She said, “I was excited but worried about how I would look.” Knowing there was a shop with dresses for her boosted her confidence.
Her mom, Liz Crompton, drove her to Ruthin. Liz noted Ruby-May was quiet and nervous, worried about fitting into the dresses.
Ruby-May thought there would be fewer options, but she found many beautiful dresses in her size. She loved trying them on.
“It’s been amazing to find a shop where I can try anything on,” she said. “I tried on every dress and kept thinking, ‘It’s this one, no, this one!’”
Ffansi Ffrogs opened in 2023 and has a second shop for sizes 18 to 30. It attracts customers from North Wales and nearby English counties.
