Salisbury City Council is considering several proposals to enhance highway safety and traffic flow, aiming to make the roads safer for everyone.
Councillor Chris Taylor kicked things off by suggesting a cycle contraflow on Coldharbour Lane. Right now, cyclists have to deal with one-way traffic, which can be a bit of a hassle. He thinks this change would help folks get to places like the new Lidl and Sarum St Paul’s School without worrying too much about traffic.
Another idea from Cllr Taylor is to add three lanes on Butts Road during rush hour. He believes this could help with the usual traffic jams. However, Cllr Bayliss isn’t so sure about this one, saying it might not be the best solution.
Then there’s Ashley Road, where Cllr Taylor pointed out that the zebra crossing is hard to see. He wants better signs to help drivers spot it, especially since it’s near a school. Cllr Riddle agreed, saying it shouldn’t be that hard to make it more visible.
Overall, the council is trying to figure out what changes will really make a difference for everyone on the road.
