Clackmannanshire’s new well-being hub and school plan gets the nod despite local concerns about accessibility and transport options
Alloa: Clackmannanshire’s planning committee just approved a big project for a new well-being hub and Lochies School. It’s a £77 million plan that aims to bring back swimming pools to the area, which locals have missed since the Alloa Leisure Bowl closed down four years ago.
This new facility will not only house the school but also a community health and leisure center. It’s designed to serve everyone in the community, offering various sports and leisure options.
Even though the planning committee gave it the green light, not everyone is on board. Some local community councils and residents raised concerns about the location. They worry that many folks won’t be able to reach the hub without a car, which could be a hassle.
To address these worries, the council has promised to set up a bus service connecting the hub to Alloa Town Centre before it opens. This way, everyone can access the new facility easily.
During the meeting, committee members discussed the importance of transport and accessibility. They want to make sure that getting to the hub is straightforward for everyone. After a thorough debate, the councillors voted unanimously to move forward with the project.
So, it looks like Clackmannanshire is on its way to having a new well-being hub and school, which should be a great addition to the community!
