Wales is on the lookout for its top community pub in the Hero Awards, celebrating those that make a real difference
Cardiff: The Hero Awards are all about shining a light on pubs that really make a difference in their communities. They want to recognize those places that support local sports, help charities, and provide essential services.
Welsh pubs that are at the heart of their neighborhoods are encouraged to enter the PubAid Community Pub Hero Awards 2025. But hurry, the deadline is coming up fast!
Last year, winners included The Sun Trevor near Llangollen and the Owain Glyndwr in Llanddona. These pubs were celebrated for being super community-focused.
Tonia Antoniazzi, the Gower MP, shared her excitement about the awards. She met so many passionate pub owners last year and wants every pub in Wales to get involved. She’s also urging MPs to nominate at least one pub from their area.
The awards have several categories, like Community Support Hero and Charity Fundraising Hero. Each category highlights different ways pubs contribute to their communities.
For instance, the Community Support Hero category is for pubs that help out by delivering supplies or cooking meals for those in need. The Charity Fundraising Hero celebrates pubs that raise money for good causes.
There’s even a category for regular customers who help their local pub with community efforts. And let’s not forget the Community Sport Hero, which honors pubs that support local sports.
Finalists will get to attend a fancy awards ceremony at the House of Commons on March 4, 2025. Pubs can enter for free by checking out the official website, but they need to act fast—the deadline is January 24, 2025!
