Keir Mather met with The Skills Network’s leaders to discuss skills development and its impact on the Selby community and beyond
Selby: Labour MP Keir Mather recently dropped by The Skills Network’s head office. He wanted to chat about how important skills development is for the local community.
During his visit, he met with some key folks, including CEO Mark Dawe and co-owner Jackie Cox. They shared insights about the organization’s role in boosting the economy.
Mr. Mather learned how The Skills Network is working hard to tackle the skills gap affecting various sectors across the UK. They’re not just focused on Selby but have a national reach too.
The Skills Network is a big player in flexible digital learning, offering over 400 courses and helping more than 250,000 learners each year. That’s pretty impressive!
From their base in Selby, they partner with local authorities to run Skills Bootcamps. These programs are funded through the Adult Skills Fund and aim to equip people with the skills they need to thrive in today’s job market.
Plus, they’re one of the largest employers in Selby, with over 200 staff and 220 assessors and tutors on board. That’s a significant contribution to the local economy!
Mark Dawe expressed how great it was to host Mr. Mather and share success stories from their learners. He emphasized the ongoing demand for skills development in the country.
Dawe also mentioned their commitment to supporting Selby’s skills agenda and hopes for a fruitful partnership with Mr. Mather’s office moving forward.
The Skills Network offers a variety of distance learning options, from fully funded qualifications to short courses, all recognized nationally and backed by quality resources.
