Settle Carlisle Line’s Calendar Girls Celebrate Anniversary with Style

Settle: The Settle Carlisle Railway team has taken a page from the famous Calendar Girls. Inspired by the original group, they posed for their own calendar, ditching their uniforms for a good cause.

This railway is not just any train route; it’s been named the best scenic railway in Europe! The calendar showcases stunning views, including the iconic Ribblehead Viaduct, and features some classic steam trains.

Susie Payne, the Operational Manager, came up with the idea. She’s also Miss February in the calendar! Susie started her journey in the rail industry as a trolley service operator. She shared how thrilled they are to have raised £1,000 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance service.

The team wanted to celebrate their 20th anniversary in a fun way, and they were inspired by the Rylstone and District Women’s Institute. Looking ahead, they’re excited about the Settle Carlisle line’s 150th anniversary and plan to focus on their scenic line in the 2026 calendar.

The calendar, along with some sponsored walks, has already made a positive impact, raising funds for a great cause. The Settle-Carlisle Railway Development Company has been around since 1992, working hard to keep the railway thriving and engaging with the community.
