Residents are frustrated as 20 shopping trollies clutter MacArthur Crescent, highlighting a growing issue in the community
Bitterne: So, there’s this wild situation happening on MacArthur Crescent. A local resident, Perry McMillan, has spotted a whopping 20 shopping trollies just hanging out on the street. Can you believe it?
Most of these trollies are from Sainsbury’s, with a few from Iceland, both just a short walk away in Bitterne Village. Perry’s not too happy about it, calling it an “eyesore.” He’s been noticing this mess for about four years now, and it seems to be getting worse.
He mentioned that it’s pretty selfish of people to just leave the trollies lying around when others are struggling to find one when they go shopping. It’s a bit of a head-scratcher, right?
Perry, who drives a taxi, pointed out that there’s a proper spot for returning the trollies. He gets that sometimes one or two might stray, but 20? That’s just too much!
Sainsbury’s has said they’re on it and will collect the trollies soon. They even have a special team for this kind of thing. They’re asking folks to report any stray trollies on the TrolleyWise website.
Southampton City Council is also aware of the situation. They’re in touch with the stores and are urging people not to take the trollies home since they belong to the supermarkets. Leaving them around is just causing a hassle for everyone.
It’s a real nuisance for the community, and the Echo is waiting to hear back from Iceland about their take on the situation.
