The beloved Walker’s Shortbread leader Sir Jim Walker’s funeral is set for January 9 in Aberlour, where tributes will be paid.
Aberlour: This week, folks will gather to say goodbye to a true local legend. Sir Jim Walker, the former managing director of Walker’s Shortbread, passed away at 80.
He left us on December 15 at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, and it’s clear he made a huge impact. For over 60 years, he worked hard to grow the Walker’s brand worldwide.
The funeral is happening at Aberlour Parish Church on Thursday, January 9, at 1pm. It’s a chance for everyone to share their memories and pay their respects.
His family shared a heartfelt notice, mentioning his loving wife Jennifer and their children, Jamie, Jacqui, Bryony, and Alastair. He was also a proud granddad to Logan, Romy, Joshua, Torren, Joanie, and Wyatt.
After the service, he’ll be laid to rest at Aberlour Cemetery. The family has requested no flowers, but donations can be made to The King’s Trust.
Sir Jim was honored with a CBE in 1999 for his contributions to the industry. In 2022, he was recognized in Queen Elizabeth II’s last Birthday Honours list.
Walker’s Shortbread remembers him as a devoted and kind man, and it’s clear he’ll be missed by many.
