A man was arrested in Essex in connection with hare coursing and violent disorder across Cambridgeshire.
The arrest happened in Essex, and he’s at the police station. They are investigating events from January 25. Earlier, police got many complaints. People reported hare coursing and property damage. Dangerous driving was also reported.
The problems happened in several towns, including Fordham, Ely, Welney, and Chatteris, among others. Police still need help identifying those involved.
Police arrested two men, aged 22 and 51, in Essex yesterday. Another man, aged 46, got arrested in Peterborough. An 18-year-old from Spalding got arrested, and also a 26-year-old from Grantham. These arrests were on Friday.
The police seized four vehicles, taking three in Grantham and the last one in Essex. They also found hare coursing gear. The five men are out on bail now, and they must return to the police station later. Their bail has several rules.
The rules are pretty strict for these men. They can’t have dogs on private land without written permission, and dogs must be on a lead, always. They can’t be in a car with a dog either, unless it is for the vet. Also, no catapults or air weapons are allowed.
They cannot drive on private land without permission and cannot use public paths for hare coursing. They cannot shout or swear at people. This applies in twelve counties, including Cambridgeshire and Essex.
