The ITV series Out There showcases stunning South Wales locations, highlighting the impact of county lines drug dealing on rural communities.
Newport: The new ITV drama Out There is making waves, and it’s filmed right in South Wales. The show dives into the dark world of county lines drug dealing, which is hitting rural areas hard.
Martin Clunes stars as Nathan Williams, a farmer facing some serious challenges in his community. He’s joined by a talented cast, including Louis Ashbourne Serkis and Mark Lewis Jones.
If you’ve seen the show, you might recognize some of the beautiful locations. The director, Marc Evans, chose Wales because it’s his home turf, and it really shows.
Most of the filming happened around the stunning Black Mountains and Llandovery. Evans wanted to capture that sense of isolation, which adds a unique vibe to the drama.
He mentioned how the landscape not only looks great but also reflects the loneliness and issues affecting the countryside. It’s a fresh take on rural life that you don’t often see.
Llandovery serves as the local village in the series. Mark Lewis Jones shared how filming in a local pub opened his eyes to the real-life struggles with drug trafficking in the area.
He was shocked to hear from the landlady about how bad the drug problem has become. It’s a reminder that these issues are not just in big cities but are affecting small towns too.
Clunes really enjoyed his time filming in Wales, praising the beautiful locations and the friendly atmosphere. He even formed a bond with a lovely horse on set!
