Residents in Southampton are eager for the opening of Arundel Gardens, which is still closed as the grass settles in after recent work
Even though the bus hub is up and running, the grass at Arundel Gardens is still off-limits. The council is letting it settle in, especially with the winter weather. Councillor Eamonn Keogh mentioned they’re keeping an eye on it and just need to wait a bit longer.
The paved area and benches are ready for folks to enjoy, and Arundel Tower has reopened too. It’s nice to see improvements like added lights for better visibility at night.
Construction kicked off in January 2024, and Councillor Sarah Bogle thanked everyone for their patience. She noted that while there’s always some disruption with projects, the end result is worth it.
Before, residents had to deal with bus fumes from the main road, but now it’s a much nicer environment. The new bus hub aims to boost bus reliability in Southampton, which has one of the highest bus usage rates in the country.
Cllr Keogh officially opened the hub and shared plans for further upgrades to improve traffic flow. It’s all about making life easier for everyone in the area.
