Axel Rudakubana’s history of violence raises serious questions about safety
Southport: So, there’s this guy, Axel Rudakubana, who had a pretty dark obsession with violence. He even had a “kill list” at school, which is just chilling, right?
He got kicked out of Range High back in 2019 after bringing a knife to school. Then, just a few months later, he came back and tried to attack people with a hockey stick. Talk about a red flag!
Fast forward to July 2024, and he pleaded guilty to some serious attacks. It turns out he had been flagged multiple times for his violent tendencies, but nothing seemed to change.
People who knew him described him as troubled. One parent, Dylan Pemberton, said his daughter was aware of Rudakubana and his violent behavior. It was like everyone knew something was off.
The police found that he had this unhealthy obsession with violence and even admired dictators and war. He had a weird fascination with the Rwandan genocide, which is just disturbing.
His family moved to Cardiff before settling in the northwest of England. Just a week before the stabbings, his dad stopped him from taking a taxi back to school. It’s scary to think he could have attacked then.
People are understandably upset and want to know how he slipped through the cracks. Authorities had him on their radar, so why didn’t they act? It feels like a tragedy waiting to happen.
Home Secretary Yvette Cooper announced a public inquiry to figure out what went wrong. She emphasized that agencies failed to see the danger he posed. It’s a tough situation, and the victims are the ones who will carry the trauma forever.
