Spirit of Yorkshire’s whisky shines at the W Club Awards, winning gold among top competitors, marking a significant achievement for the distillery.
Yorkshire: Spirit of Yorkshire’s Flagship single malt whisky just snagged a gold medal at the W Club Members’ Choice Awards 2024. It’s one of only three whiskies to earn this honor in the Single Malt (Non-Age Statement) category.
Glen Scotia’s Double Cask took the top spot, while Talisker Port Ruighe and Glen Scotia Victoriana also won gold alongside Filey Bay Flagship. Pretty impressive company, right?
Joe Clark, the whisky director, shared how this award is based on blind tastings by whisky lovers across the country. He’s thrilled to be recognized alongside such big names in the whisky world.
He mentioned that while Glen Scotia and Talisker have been crafting their spirits since the 1830s, Spirit of Yorkshire is still in its early days, having started production just a few years ago. This win feels like a big deal for them.
The W Club awards are put together by The Whisky Shop, which has 24 locations across the UK. They asked brands to submit their best whiskies and let members rate them without any bias.
Each whisky was judged on its aroma, taste, finish, and overall impression. The Flagship single malt is known for its light, fruity, and creamy profile, made entirely from homegrown barley.
It first hit the shelves in October 2020, and it’s been making waves ever since. If you want to learn more, check out their website at www.spiritofyorkshire.com.
