Holt: Sponge Bakery started back in September 2000, selling cakes at Byfords café. It was a small beginning, but they quickly grew.

By 2009, they moved on to officially launch Sponge, and that’s when things really took off. They began selling at markets and county shows.

Before long, they made a name for themselves online, delivering their tasty treats across the country.

They’re all about making sure everyone can enjoy their cakes, so they cater to various allergies and dietary needs.

In August 2024, they got Coeliac Accreditation after opening a separate bakery for gluten-free goodies.

Now, they’ve added a Vegan Society Accreditation, which means they can proudly show off that stamp of approval on their website.

They offer a range of vegan options, including brownies, carrot cake, and even a Victoria sponge.

Richard Fowler, the director, believes that great cakes should be for everyone. He says this accreditation is a promise of inclusivity and great taste.
