Moyse’s Hall Museum wowed crowds with a Star Wars exhibit featuring props from the iconic films, ending its sci-fi showcase.
The museum had a busy Saturday. It was one of the busiest in four years. Whiteley’s Tauntaun head was on display. It’s from “The Empire Strikes Back,” which came out in 1980.
The exhibit also had props from other movies like “Indiana Jones,” “Titanic,” and “Who Framed Roger Rabbit.” This visit ended the sci-fi exhibit.
Dan Clarke, the museum’s heritage officer, spoke about the day and called Saturday incredible. The museum had extra staff to help the day run smoothly.
Dan said Michael Whiteley was a hit because he is a very nice man. Michael talked to as many people as he could, and people enjoyed hearing Michael’s story.
Michael did not think much of the Tauntaun head initially. He thought the movie would be small, but Star Wars became a huge hit. Michael kept the mold in his garden.
His window cleaner told him to save it in the 1990s, when the films had a big comeback. Michael rescued the prop mold and has kept it safe since.
Cosplayers came to the event too, dressed as Star Wars characters in a group called Vader Raiders. Many visitors dressed up as well, and people had fun with costumes.
West Suffolk Council runs the museum. The sci-fi exhibit started in October, and visitors saw items from other movies too, including “Saving Private Ryan” and “Band of Brothers.”
The exhibit marked D-Day’s 80th and showed items from “Monuments Men.” Wolverine’s 50th anniversary was also shown, displaying Wolverine’s comic book origins and his role in “Deadpool and Wolverine.”
