Get ready for a fun day as Jane McCarry and Ian Gordon kick off the River Deveron salmon season this February
Turriff: Exciting news for fishing fans! Jane McCarry, known for her role in Still Game, and world casting champ Ian Gordon are set to open the 2025 River Deveron salmon season.
The River Deveron District Salmon Fishery Board and The Deveron, Bogie and Isla Rivers Charitable Trust are teaming up for this special event, which is also supported by The Deveron Single Malt Whisky.
On February 11 at 10 am, the opening ceremony will take place at the Turriff Angling Association lodge. It’s going to be a great time!
Jane, a BAFTA-winning actress, is famous for her character Isa. She’s joined by Ian, a master angler who’s all about salmon conservation and tackle innovation.
Craig Wyness, last year’s Morison Trophy winner, will make the first cast of the season. He caught a massive 26lbs salmon to win the trophy!
River director Richie Miller is thrilled about the upcoming season, especially since last year saw a 123% increase in salmon caught. It’s shaping up to be a memorable start!
