Borough: Stock Aitken Waterman, the famous British music trio, just got a blue plaque at their old studio. This spot, known as The Hit Factory, is where they created some of the biggest hits in pop history.

From 1984 to 1993, these guys sold over 200 million records! They worked with stars like Kylie Minogue and Rick Astley, making tunes that are still loved today.

On January 22, fans gathered to celebrate the plaque unveiling. Pete Waterman, one of the trio, shared how he’s been part of Southwark for ages, even though he’s not originally from London.

After long recording sessions, they often headed to the Gladstone Arms for a drink. Matt mentioned how they’d sometimes go to the Lord Clyde if they had guests. It’s nice to see those places still around.

When asked about their favorite songs, they joked it depends on the day. But they all agreed that “Never Gonna Give You Up” is a classic. Pete fondly remembered local girls Mel & Kim knocking on their door, wanting to be stars.

He also reminisced about fans waiting outside the studio for autographs. It was all part of the community vibe, and they loved interacting with their supporters.

In a heartfelt statement, the trio expressed gratitude for the blue plaque, thanking their fans and the local council for the recognition. It’s a lovely tribute to their legacy in music.

The plaque is now proudly displayed at 4-7 Vine Yard, SE1 1QL, just a short walk from Borough Station.
