Helensburgh: The storm is really shaking things up around here. Public transport is on hold, and schools are closed because of a red weather warning from 10am to 5pm.

They’re saying winds could hit over 90mph, which is pretty wild. So, here’s the scoop on what’s closed so far in Helensburgh and Lomond.

First off, LiveArgyll has shut down all their facilities, including the Helensburgh Leisure Centre and Hermitage Academy. It’s a total shutdown.

Argyll and Bute Council decided to close all schools and early years settings today. They’ll be doing online learning instead, so parents should expect to hear from them.

All council offices are closed too, but they plan to reopen on Monday. As for rubbish and recycling, there won’t be any collections, so residents need to secure their bins.

Funeral services are also postponed, which is tough for those affected. And if you were planning to take a ferry, forget it! All services, including the Kilcreggan to Gourock route, are cancelled.

ScotRail has announced that no trains will be running today either. They’re urging everyone to stay put since it’s just not safe out there with the high winds.

Over at the Millig Practice, they’re operating with minimal staff. They’ll only be doing urgent face-to-face appointments and phone consultations to keep everyone safe.

Bus services are also off the table. Wilsons of Rhu and Garelochhead Coaches have both cancelled their routes for the day. They’re prioritizing safety, which is smart.

Lastly, the Scottish Government is sending out emergency alerts to keep everyone informed about the storm. If you hear that loud siren on your phone, it’s just a heads-up about the weather.
