Residents in Essex are on alert as Storm Éowyn brings thunderstorm and tornado warnings, with severe weather expected soon
Essex: A storm is brewing, and it’s no joke. Storm Éowyn is set to hit hard, bringing thunderstorm and tornado warnings across the region. The alert is in effect from 6 am today until 6 am tomorrow.
The European Storm Forecast Experiment has issued a level two warning, which means there’s a good chance of severe weather. They say there’s over a 15% chance of a thunderstorm within 40 km, and a small chance of really extreme weather.
Gusts could reach up to 90 mph, and the warning covers most of southern England, except for a small part of Cornwall. Meanwhile, in Ireland, winds might hit 125 mph near the coast. That’s some serious wind!
The meteorologists are keeping a close eye on things. They expect a cold front to move through, which could lead to some intense storms. The risk of tornadoes is particularly high along the Bristol-London line.
As Storm Éowyn rolls in, the Met Office has also issued a yellow wind warning for south Essex. They’re advising everyone to stay updated on travel conditions, as winds could reach 40-50 mph, especially in exposed areas.
So, if you’re in Essex, it’s a good idea to stay alert and be prepared for some wild weather ahead!
