Rail companies are warning travelers to avoid certain routes due to Storm Éowyn’s high winds expected this Friday
Manchester: So, here’s the scoop. Major rail companies like Avanti West Coast, TransPennine, and LNER are sounding the alarm. They’re telling folks to steer clear of travel this Friday because of Storm Éowyn.
They’re particularly worried about the high winds that are expected to hit. Avanti West Coast has been pretty clear on their social media, saying not to travel north of Preston or on the North Wales route.
They even mentioned that if you had plans to travel on those routes, you can use your ticket on any Avanti service from Thursday until Sunday. That’s a bit of a relief, right?
TransPennine is also in on the warnings, urging people not to travel between Manchester/Liverpool and Scotland, as well as York, Newcastle, and Edinburgh. It’s all about safety, folks!
LNER is echoing the same message, advising against travel to and from stations north of York. They’re taking this seriously, and so should we.
The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for wind in several areas, including Southern Scotland and Northern England. This storm could lead to power cuts and rail cancellations, so it’s best to stay put if you can.
Just a heads up, the warning is in effect from 6 AM to 9 PM on Friday. Stay safe out there!
