Blackburn braces for Storm Éowyn as the Met Office issues an amber warning, predicting strong winds and potential disruptions
Blackburn: The Met Office has raised the alarm with an amber warning for strong winds. This warning is in effect from 6am Friday until 9pm. It’s covering all of East Lancashire.
They’re expecting some serious gusts, with speeds hitting up to 70mph in Blackburn. Coastal areas might even see gusts reaching 80mph. So, it’s going to be a wild ride!
People should be ready for possible damage to buildings, like roof tiles flying off and power outages. Travel plans might get messy too, with delays and cancellations on roads, rail, and even ferries.
Watch out for flying debris, as it could lead to injuries. The sea might get rough, with big waves crashing onto the coast. It’s definitely not a day to be out and about if you can help it.
Mike Silverstone, the Met Office’s deputy chief meteorologist, mentioned that Storm Éowyn is set to bring some pretty disruptive weather. Northern England and parts of Wales are likely to feel the brunt of it.
So, keep an eye on the forecast as things could change. Stay safe and warm, everyone!
