Hampshire braces for strong winds and heavy rain as Storm Eowyn hits
Southampton: The Met Office has issued a warning for strong winds as Storm Eowyn approaches. They expect winds to hit between 50 and 60 mph. Yikes!
This warning is set to be in effect from 7 am to 6 pm on Thursday, January 23. So, if you have plans, you might want to keep an eye on the weather.
A spokesperson from the Met Office mentioned that a band of heavy rain will sweep across the area. It’ll bring a solid 4-5 hours of strong and gusty winds.
The winds will be strongest along the coasts and hills, especially in the morning. But don’t worry, they should ease up a bit in the afternoon.
Coastal areas in the New Forest, like Milford on Sea, Lymington, and Lepe, are particularly at risk. So, if you’re near the coast, stay safe!
The Met Office warns that some coastal routes and communities might face issues with spray and big waves. It could get a bit messy out there.
Plus, bus and train services might see some delays, and there could be short-term power outages. Just a heads up!
High-sided vehicles should also be cautious on exposed routes and bridges. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
This is actually the second warning for Storm Eowyn, with a yellow weather warning for wind also in place for all of Hampshire on Friday.
