Lana and Amira Heffernan shine at a local music festival, impressing judges and celebrating their achievements with family and friends
Port Glasgow: Singers Lana and Amira Heffernan really wowed the judges at a recent music festival. They performed in the Hits of the Charts class and caught the eye of adjudicator Jonathan Rea.
The sisters, who go to Port Glasgow High School, were thrilled to win a new award introduced this year. It’s a big deal for them!
Lana, 17, sang “What Was I Made For?” from the Barbie movie. She said it felt amazing to see all their hard work pay off. They’ve been practicing since school started again, even during the break.
She mentioned feeling a bit nervous before going on stage, but once they’re up there, it’s all about the performance. The girls live in Devol with their parents, Angela and David, who are super proud of them.
They look forward to this festival every year. Lana said it’s a blast and everyone is so supportive. It’s a great way to build confidence and meet new friends.
Amira, 15, also had her moment, singing “Made You Feel My Love” in a different category. She loves meeting new people through music.
Both sisters are involved in school shows and choirs. Lana is part of RCS Juniors, while Amira performs with Greenock Players. They both admire Taylor Swift for her voice and showmanship.
In school, they’re studying music, with Lana at Advanced Higher and Amira at National 5 level. Their music teacher, Julie Ballantyne, praised them for being fantastic ambassadors for the school.
The girls expressed their gratitude to Mrs. Ballantyne and everyone who helped make the festival a success. It’s clear they’re on a bright path!
