A recent survey shows that many Brits feel less playful by age 29, with stress and responsibilities taking a toll on their fun side.
London: A new study has found that many people in the UK start losing their playful spirit by the time they hit 29. Can you believe that? The research, which surveyed 2,000 adults, showed that 43% feel less playful as they age.
It turns out that board games are still a favorite way for Brits to have fun. Northern Ireland was named the most playful region, which is pretty interesting! But why are we losing our playful side? Well, 45% of folks said it’s due to increased responsibilities, while 23% feel the pressure to be more productive.
Many people also mentioned they just don’t have time for anything other than serious stuff. But here’s the good news: 60% of those who play games regularly say it helps reduce their stress. That’s a win!
Interestingly, 64% of adults wish they could let loose and enjoy more playful activities each week. It seems like we all crave a bit of fun, right? The online gaming app PAPAYA, which sponsored the research, teamed up with Dr. Stuart Brown, a play expert, to highlight the benefits of play.
Dr. Brown pointed out that play is essential for building social connections and boosting mental well-being. Engaging in playful activities releases feel-good chemicals in our brains, which can help us feel happier and more resilient.
Despite the challenges, 75% of respondents are open to trying new playful activities. It’s great to see that so many people want to reconnect with their inner child! Plus, nearly half of those who play say it helps them deal with tough emotions.
Interestingly, 55% of adults believe that being playful is undervalued as we grow up. A spokesperson from PAPAYA emphasized that play strengthens bonds with family and friends, which is super important as we age.
So, what are the top ways adults play? Think board games, online games, sports, and even karaoke! It’s all about finding joy in the little things and making time for fun.
