Swindon: The council has permission to tear down a burnt-out house. They plan to replace it with two new homes. The old house has been an eyesore for too long.

Numbers 5 and 6 Holly Close are in a quiet cul-de-sac. Both houses have been boarded up and damaged by fire. The council says they add no value to the area.

They want to build a three-bedroom house and a slightly larger one. The new homes will include a ground floor annexe for wheelchair access.

However, the Central Swindon North Parish Council has raised concerns. They worry about parking issues since spaces will be in front of the new houses.

In Stratton St Margaret, a convenience store is changing its signs to match the One Stop brand. The new colors will be red and blue.

In Old Town, a shop owner is trying again to open a hot food takeaway. They previously withdrew their application due to local objections.

The public health team is against this new plan. They cite concerns about air quality and noise, especially near a school and playground.

In Broadgreen, a proposal for a new bus shelter with ads has been dropped. The council has officially disposed of this application.

In the Town Centre, a new electricity substation may be built near the bus station. This supports the redevelopment of the Kimmerfields area.

Plans for the bus station include clearing it for a new theatre once Fleming Way opens later this year.

In Wroughton, designer Sophie Conran wants to build a yoga studio in her garden. It will be a simple, single-storey structure.

Lastly, several applications for home extensions have been submitted across Swindon. These include loft conversions and new outbuildings.
