Swindon: Big changes are on the horizon for Old Town! A new bakery is set to open in a building that’s been mostly a canvas for graffiti artists and vandals. It’s about time, right?

Harry Long from HGL Development has got the green light to turn an old electricity generator building into this bakery. It used to power the Swindon Advertiser’s printing presses, but now it’s ready for a fresh start.

The building is a bit of an eyesore, covered in graffiti and lacking charm. But planners believe the new bakery will really brighten up the area. They’re excited about how it’ll fit in with the neighborhood.

Mr. Long mentioned that the bakery will not only look good but also bring some much-needed jobs and support local suppliers. Plus, it’ll attract more foot traffic, which is great for nearby businesses.

Customers will enter through the front, and there’ll be a staff parking area in the back. The layout will include space for food prep and retail, making it a cozy spot for locals.

And that’s not all! McDonald’s is also getting a makeover on Great Western Way, with plans for a new drive-thru and some snazzy updates. Swindon is buzzing with activity!

So, keep an eye out for this new bakery. It’s going to be a fantastic addition to Old Town, and I can’t wait to grab a pastry there!
